Website: Content and Authority

The website the page is on is important. A page never stands alone.

A website with high authority in the sector, with a lot of other good content and that has been around for years, scores easier than one well-optimized page on an otherwise limited website. Google will crawl such a website with high authority and many links much more frequently in search of new interesting content. On a limited or new website, the Googlebot does not come by as often and it will therefore take longer and be more difficult to obtain a high position.

If you start a new website, it will take some time before you get to the top of the search results. Via Google Search Console you can submit your website to Google and ask to index it. You can also submit your xml sitemaps so that the Googlebot knows which pages are on your website.

Site structure: logical and user-friendly

Google crawls the entire web with its Googlebot and indexes the pages they find interesting. With the sitemap you can provide an overview of all your pages. A good website structure is therefore important.  We have already dedicated an extensive page to this . It comes down to structuring the pages on your website in a logical and user-friendly way. From homepage to category to subcategory to product page. This way, visitors and the Googlebot know exactly where they are on your website.

A good site structure also ensures that your pages link well to each other. After all, links are important; it is through these links that the Googlebot crawls your website. Let your main pages link to the underlying pages and where possible also between pages of the same level of your site structure. Also link to important pages directly from the home page. Create a deep link, as it is called. This way you indicate that this is an important page in your website.

Content: Not Just Self-Promotion

The quality of your content is one of the most important factors for a good ranking in Google. Don’t just tell what you do or how great your products or services are, but also answer the questions of your potential customers. Put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself what and how they are searching. Because the answers to those questions should be on your website. Align your content with that and remove all possible obstacles between you and your customer.

Oh yes, use your keywords in the right places. Still important. Not only for Google, but also for your visitors. If someone sees the term he just searched for in the title of your page among the Google results, he will click on your website faster (better CTR, Click Through Rate or click-through ratio). If that visitor sees that search term again quickly in the content on the page, he will be sure that the page is about what he is looking for. He will start reading and not immediately go back to Google. (Better time on page. If the visitor then also looks a bit further on your website: a lower bounce rate.)

Links to your website: only if you are worth it

If you have a link to your content from a high authority website, Google will not only find your page faster, but will also see it as an indication that your content is worthwhile. If you have multiple links from such websites, your content will be considered increasingly valuable. And so you will reach the top of Google faster.

How do you get links on such a website? That is a whole separate field within search engine marketing. You have to deal with link building, outreach, guest blogging. PR and networking.

You can ask for links or make your content so attractive that it is ‘linkworthy’, so that you automatically get links on interesting websites. You also have to make the content noticed by journalists and bloggers. You can do this by:

To address them directly;
Provide them with information through the results of a research or survey;
Provide them with bite-sized information via an infographic;
To ‘give’ an incentive.
Or through roundabout means, by following them on social media, responding to their articles, engaging in discussions, and thus building your own reputation.

You don’t have to constantly fawn over links. Creating controversial content or rubbing people the wrong way can also help. I recently saw this interesting video about this:  how content can succeed by making enemies .

Content Marketing: The King of the Internet

The well-known “content is king” in the SEO world is still valid. Without 2024 iraq telegram users library powder content, there is nothing to optimize. That is clear. But a good  content strategy  is not just about optimizable content. It is also about infographics that can help with link building. This concerns content that you might put behind a form, and is therefore not ‘optimizable’, but that your customers are looking for and in return want to leave their email address with you. Content that makes you an authority in your sector. Things that do not always have a direct impact on your ranking, but indirectly they do.

We also call content marketing  inbound marketing . The Motionmill website revolves around this principle. And it works. You are reading this article right?

Social media: good for sharing content
Social media also have an indirect effect on your findability. Just having agent email list social profiles and being active on them will not help you. But because you also reach an audience on social media, for example by sharing an article, many people will read and appreciate your content. Your website becomes known and they will also find their way to it directly later. Or perhaps link to it from their website. And an extra link does provide an SEO advantage. Brand awareness does that too.

Google Ads: The Fastest Way

Finally, I want to tell you this: of course,  advertising with Google Ads  (formerly Google AdWords) is the fastest way to get to the top of Google. Google reserves the first three (sometimes four) places for advertisements. You do pay an amount per click on your advertisement, but an  Ads campaign  is set up relatively quickly. Relatively, because since you are investing money in clicks, it is best to first draw up a good strategy, goals and budget. This is how you set up a targeted campaign. In addition, your website must also be in tip-top order in this case: Google gives a quality score to your advertisement and your website. Moreover, you do not want that visitor you just paid for to leave immediately. Conversion is what you are aiming for!

Your website at the top of Google? It will take some effort.  We would like to invite you  to see how we can organize those efforts as efficiently as possible.
