It may not be smart to reveal the conclusion at the beginning of an article. Or at least it is not common. But it saves the lazy ones among you a few seconds. What did you expect? That we as a web design agency in Antwerp would declare ourselves redundant?
Oh, (another spoiler) by the way, we are not against page builders at all!
What are page builders?
Page builders are tools that allow you to build pages in We are taking data from professional people so our database has the 100% correct coding Full valid dump up to 2024 Daily work of update dumps is available special database customer support at all times The staff will help expand your business. WordPress in the backend (and increasingly also in the frontend) with different elements. This way you are not limited to just the text editor or the other things that are provided in your theme. From photo galleries to animated counters to portfolio carousels… You add them to your page ‘drag and drop’. As if it were nothing. No coding knowledge required.
So why do you still need a web designer?
A good web design is a total picture. There is an idea behind it, an overarching concept. Your personality, brand, house style, your message are reflected in it. You tune that to an optimal user experience for your target audience. That is what a web designer is busy with day in, day out. That is know-how, experience and being aware of the latest trends and techniques. Because that website must be just as beautiful on the latest (mobile) devices and screen sizes.
As the word suggests, with a page builder you build a page. Within a web design.
On the other hand, you will still be limited without any technical layout knowledge. Do you want more space between two page builder elements or do you want certain titles to be bigger or in a different color? Then you will have to assign a ‘class’ to it and give it some extra ‘margin’ or ‘font-size’ via the CSS. Most page builders provide that space, and some are even quite user-friendly, but some prior knowledge is still useful.

Do we find page builders useful?
Yes, absolutely. Despite the fact that we ourselves like to get our hands dirty by diving deep into the code and CSS, a page builder gives a layman more freedom to add certain content. A professional web designer can still provide the basic templates for the pages and the content types, but even as a noob you can then go completely wild.
The web designer builds the CSS as tightly as possible, so that when someone adds elements to a page, they fit perfectly into the whole.
This fits perfectly into the philosophy of a user-friendly content management system like WordPress. WordPress web designers like to make it easy for their clients to add content to the web.
But beware: using page builders does not come without some less positive consequences!
Attention!
Are you going to work with page builders yourself? Then pay attention to these four things:
Speed. As simple as dropping a testimonial carousel or a parallax slider may seem, it adds a lot of code to your page. This can make it load slower. And therefore at the expense of a good user experience;
SEO. Not only is that speed also a ranking factor for Google. Because of all that extra code and formatting in your page, your content may get a bit snowed under. Then those carefully constructed and optimized texts may not come into their own when the search engine bots crawl your website. One of the most used SEO plugins, WordPress SEO by Yoast, is not always usable in combination with page builders;
Dependency. Every page builder works differently with its own elements and shortcodes. If you want to change systems at some point, it is almost impossible.
You will have to rebuild your website almost completely.
And… don’t turn it into a magazine. The temptation is great to process those elements, all those cool features or animations in a page. Ask yourself if they really contribute to the message you want to convey. Or if the whole is mainly a pleasant reading experience for your visitors. And no, not everyone is a designer, so ask the opinion of a real web designer. Or let him show you the way. Otherwise you will end up with a kind of Geocities website like in the old days. That was actually also a page builder avant-la-lettre.
What page builders are there for WordPress?
Elementor
Elementor is popular and there is a reason for that: the program works 2024 hong kong telegram users library material according to an intuitive drag and drop system. Is the program perfect? No. In our experience, Elementor is mainly suitable for websites with fairly basic functionalities. As soon as too many special tricks are needed in the website, you have to search too much in the program, which means that the time saving you hope to have with a page builder is actually zero. But for a straightforward website, Elementor can certainly be an added value.
Visual Composer by WP Bakery
I often work with Visual Composer because this page builder is regularly installed on existing websites that are transferred to my management. Visual Composer is very intuitive and also has a drag and drop system. Many different modules are available, it is responsive and can also be styled easily. It is also useful that all blocks are written away in the text editor via shortcodes, so you can continue to work with Yoast SEO to optimize your pages.
Page Builder from Site Origin (free)
This one is free, so definitely worth a try if you keep it simple. We find it agent email list rather limited and also doesn’t go well with WordPress SEO.
Live Composer (free)
I haven’t worked with this one yet, to be honest. When I tested it quickly, it looked pretty handy and comprehensive for a free tool. Combining it with WordPress SEO seems difficult to us.
We come across these often, but I haven’t had the chance to test them extensively yet:
Divi by Elegant themes
Beaver Builder
Themeforest also has quite a few themes that have their own built-in page builder. We have noticed that they are not always that great. Moreover, it is always a matter of finding out how they work and what their strengths and limitations are.
What are your experiences with pagebuilders? Do you know any others? Better ones? Let me know!
